Broussonetia papyrifera (Paper Mulberry)
Broussonetia papyrifera, commonly known as Paper Mulberry, is a tough plant that can survive in zone 3b. It is a deciduous tree that can reach a height of up to 40 feet (12 meters) and spread out to a width of 30 feet (9 meters). The tree earned its common name due to the rough texture of its bark, which resembles paper. The leaves of the Paper Mulberry are alternate, lobed, and up to 8 inches (20 cm) long. It produces small green flowers and round fruits that turn pink or red when ripe.
