Carex alata, commonly known as Broadwing Sedge grass, is a versatile perennial grass native to North America. It forms dense clumps of gracefully arching narrow leaves, which are bright green in color. In late spring to early summer, it produces inconspicuous flowers on tall stems that rise above the foliage. This plant is extremely adaptable and can thrive in a variety of soil types, from wet to average, and is often used in rain gardens or along pond edges. Broadwing Sedge grass reaches a height of approximately 2-3 feet and spreads to about 1-2 feet wide.
