Carya tomentosa (Mockernut / White Hickory)
Carya tomentosa, commonly known as Mockernut or White Hickory, is a large deciduous tree native to North America. It has a round shape and can reach a height of 50-60 feet. The bark of the tree is grayish-brown and deeply furrowed, while the leaves are pinnately compound and dark green in color. Mockernut hickory produces edible nuts in large, thick-shelled husks. It is a valuable timber tree and is also commonly planted as a shade tree.
