Celtis reticulata (Neatleaf/Canyon Hackberry)

Celtis reticulata, commonly known as Neatleaf or Canyon Hackberry, is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It has a symmetrical, rounded canopy with a neat, clean look due to its smooth, alternating leaves. The leaves are elliptic and have a reticulated pattern, giving the species its scientific name. In spring, small greenish flowers appear, followed by small orange to red berries in the fall, which are highly favored by birds and other wildlife.
