Chlorogalum pomeridianum (Soaproot)
Chlorogalum pomeridianum, commonly known as Soaproot, is a perennial plant from the lily family. It is native to California and Oregon. The plant produces rosettes of long, narrow leaves and tall flower spikes that bloom with clusters of white or pinkish flowers in spring and summer. The plant's root contains saponins which can be used for making soap hence the common name. The plant has both medicinal and cultural uses by Native American tribes.
