Colocasia (Alocasia) esculenta (Elephant Ear / Taro)

Colocasia esculenta, also known as Elephant Ear or Taro, is a semi-aquatic perennial plant that belongs to the Araceae family. It is native to Southeast Asia but is now cultivated worldwide for its edible tubers. The plant has large, heart-shaped, green leaves that resemble the ears of an elephant, hence the common name. Taro grows well in moist soil or submerged in water and is known for its starchy roots used in cooking.
