Corylopsis sinensis (platypetala) (Winterhazel)

Corylopsis sinensis (platypetala), commonly known as Winterhazel, is a deciduous shrub that belongs to the witch-hazel family. It is native to China and Japan. The plant features delicate, fragrant, pale yellow flowers that bloom in late winter or early spring before the leaves appear. The flowers hang in clusters resembling catkins and make a stunning display. Winterhazel grows to a height of 6-8 feet and has a spread of 8-10 feet. It prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soil.
