Corylus colurna, commonly known as Turkish Filbert or Hazelnut, is a deciduous tree that belongs to the Betulaceae family. It is native to southeastern Europe and western Asia and is widely cultivated for its edible nuts. The tree has an erect, pyramidal shape with a dense canopy of broad, ovate leaves. In spring, it produces catkins of small, yellowish flowers that give way to clusters of edible nuts in autumn.
