Cotinus obovatus, commonly known as American Smoke Tree, is a deciduous shrub or small tree native to the southeastern United States. It is known for its unique fluffy, pinkish-brown, smoke-like flower clusters that appear in early summer. The leaves of the American Smoke Tree are oval and green, turning brilliant shades of red, orange, and purple in the fall. This rounded plant adds a beautiful touch to landscapes and grows up to 25 feet in height and spreads about 20 feet wide.
