It is a low-growing plant that typically forms dense mats of small, rounded leaves. The leaves are rich green in color with scalloped edges. This plant produces small, delicate purple or lavender flowers that resemble snapdragons. With its rapid growth and ability to self-seed, it quickly covers bare ground or walls.
