Echinocactus texensis (Texas Horse Crippler Cactus)

The Echinocactus texensis, commonly known as the Texas Horse Crippler Cactus, is a small barrel cactus native to Texas and northeastern Mexico. It has a round, globular shape with ribs covered in sharp, hooked spines that can cause severe pain if touched. The cactus produces vibrant yellow flowers that bloom at the top of the plant during the spring and summer months. It is a slow-growing plant that requires well-draining soil and full sun exposure.
