Fouquieria macdougalii, commonly known as Mexican Tree Ocotillo, is a unique plant native to the Sonoran Desert in Mexico. It is a member of the Fouquieriaceae family and is characterized by its tall, slender stems covered in long, sharp thorns. The plant has small, green leaves that appear after rainfall and drop during dry periods. During spring, it produces bright orange-red tubular flowers that attract hummingbirds and other pollinators.
