Garrya ovata (Laurelleaf Silktassel)

Garrya ovata, commonly known as Laurelleaf Silktassel, is a medium-sized evergreen shrub native to California and Oregon. It has leathery, dark green leaves that are glossy on the upper surface and gray-green beneath. In late winter to early spring, this shrub produces long, drooping catkins that are covered in silky, pale green flowers. These flowers give way to small fruits that attract birds.
