Hydrangea macrophylla is a deciduous shrub known for its beautiful flowers. Lacecap hydrangeas have flat clusters of tiny fertile flowers surrounded by larger sterile flowers, while mophead hydrangeas have large spherical clusters of showy flowers. They are commonly called hortensias and come in a variety of colors, including blue, pink, and white. These hydrangeas prefer partial shade and moist, well-drained soil.
