Ilex glabra (Male Gallberry/Inkberry Holly)
Ilex glabra, commonly known as Gallberry or Inkberry Holly, is an evergreen shrub native to the coastal plain of the eastern United States. It is a compact and dense shrub with dark green, leathery leaves that have a glossy appearance. The male cultivars of Ilex glabra produce inconspicuous small white flowers in spring, followed by small black berries in fall. This shrub provides excellent year-round interest in the landscape.
