Illicium henryi (Henry Anise-tree)

Illicium henryi, commonly known as Henry Anise-tree, is a pyramid-shaped evergreen shrub. It has dark green, glossy leaves and produces small, red flowers in the spring. The plant exudes a pleasant anise fragrance, hence its common name. It is native to China and can reach a height of 6-8 feet.
