Juncus oxymeris (Messy rush)

Juncus oxymeris, commonly known as messy rush, is a perennial rush that forms dense clumps of long, slender stems. The stems are green and wiry, and they grow in an unruly, messy fashion. This plant is often used in wetland restoration projects due to its ability to stabilize soil and control erosion. It also provides cover and nesting sites for small birds and insects. Messy rush grows up to 3 feet in height and spreads roughly 2 feet wide.
