Leucothoe racemosa (Sweetbells/Swamp L.)
Leucothoe racemosa, commonly known as Sweetbells or Swamp L., is a deciduous shrub that is native to wetlands and swamps in eastern North America. It grows to a height of 4-6 feet and has a spreading habit. The leaves are shiny, leathery, and alternate, turning red or purple in the fall. The small white flowers are produced in racemes in the spring, followed by small black fruits.
