Liquidambar formosana (Orient Sweetgum)
Liquidambar formosana, commonly known as Orient Sweetgum, is a deciduous tree that can reach a height of 50 feet or more. It is known for its attractive foliage, which consists of glossy, dark green, 3-lobed leaves. The tree is native to Taiwan and is often grown for its ornamental value in parks and gardens. In autumn, the leaves turn vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red, adding a burst of color to the landscape. Orient Sweetgum produces small, round fruits that are spiky and brown in color, which can sometimes cause a messy appearance when they drop.
