Lycium fremontii, commonly known as Wolfberry, Tomatillo, or Desert-thorn, is a deciduous shrub native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It has a thorny and sprawling growth habit with gray-green leaves. The plant produces small, trumpet-shaped purple flowers followed by bright red berries. These berries are edible and taste sweet with a slight tartness. Wolfberry is a hardy plant that can withstand hot and dry conditions.
