Lyonia fruticosa (Coastal Plain Staggerbush shrub)

Lyonia fruticosa, commonly known as Coastal Plain Staggerbush shrub, is a deciduous shrub native to the southeastern United States. It has a dense, multi-stemmed growth habit and grows up to 6 feet tall. The leaves are oval-shaped and dark green in color, turning a vibrant red in autumn. In spring, it produces small, bell-shaped white flowers that attract pollinators. It is an excellent choice for adding color and interest to native plant gardens or natural areas.
