Maytenus phyllanthoides, commonly known as Mangle Dulce or Sweet Mangrove, is a tropical evergreen shrub or small tree that belongs to the family Celastraceae. It has small, glossy leaves and produces clusters of yellow flowers followed by small, round fruits. This plant is native to coastal regions of Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, where it is often found growing in brackish or saline environments. It is well-adapted to tolerate saltwater flooding and can function as a buffer against coastal erosion. Mangle Dulce/Sweet Mangrove can reach a height of up to 10 feet and has a similar spread.
