Muhlenbergia rigens (Deer Muhly Grass)
Muhlenbergia rigens, commonly known as Deer Muhly Grass, is a native perennial grass found in the southwestern United States. It forms dense clumps of fine green foliage and produces airy, feathery panicles of pinkish-purple flowers in late summer to early fall. This ornamental grass provides movement and texture to the landscape and is often used in xeriscapes and native plant gardens. It is a favorite of deer, hence the common name Deer Muhly Grass. Deer Muhly Grass is typically 2-4 feet tall and wide.
