Synsepalum dulcificum (Miracle Fruit)

The Miracle Fruit is a small red berry that has the ability to make sour foods taste sweet. It contains a glycoprotein called miraculin which binds to taste buds and alters the perception of taste. The plant is native to West Africa and produces small, white, bell-shaped flowers. It is a slow-growing shrub with glossy dark green leaves.
