Syringa oblata (Early Lilac)
Syringa oblata, commonly known as Early Lilac, is a deciduous shrub native to China and Korea. It is a compact plant that typically grows to a height of 10-12 feet and spreads to about the same width. This lilac variety blooms for about one week before the vulgaris species, with fragrant clusters of pale pink to lavender flowers that attract butterflies and bees. The green foliage of Syringa oblata turns yellow in autumn, providing a beautiful display of color.
